Hotel suggestions for Seattle?

We are arriving in Seattle on June 3rd, a day before our Golden Princess cruise to Alaska sets sail. I am looking for good, reasonably priced hotels within walking distance of the Space Needle. I saw online The Maxwell & a Holiday Inn that seem pretty nice.

 

Any personal favorites that anyone would like to recommend?

Helen - Your best bet would be to try the "West Coast Departures" board on this website - lots of great info about hotels downtown and near Seatac. There are several threads running right now about just this subject. Good luck in your planning! BTW- in 2008, we stayed at the Homewood Suites which was very near the Space Needle, it was a nice hotel with free continental breakfast and reasonable shuttle cost to the port the next morning. Don't know the cost tho, BIL got it free with points.

we stayed at Red Lion on 5th, It was within walking distance to the market as well as the monorail to the Space Needle. Quick cab ride to the Amtrak station.
