Bike tours

We had a really nice surprise last week when we cruised on IE.

There is a bike tour concession on board (I didn't see this advertised before the cruise.)

The ship carries about 20 bikes, and there is an organized bike tour at each port.

So, you pay your £34 per person, get a bike, and join a group of fellow passengers on a bike ride, under the guidance of Russell - who is very keen to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride for his customers.

The planned route at each port is several miles long, and lasts a good few hours. There’s an excellent mix of seafront cycle-ways and in-town exploration. There are plenty of stops – the emphasis is on enjoyment, not exertion.

My favourite trip last week was the tour of Agadir. We passed through the fish market, the fishing boat docks, the marina, then into town past mosques, into the bird park, then to the market, and then to coastal resort before returning to the ship. I doubt if there is a better way to see Agadir.

Each trip seems to include a beach stop – which I suspect will be brilliant in the summer.
