I am trying to help friends prepare for a Holland American cruise aboard the Westerdam. Could someone please tell me are the boarding cards and ID"s called sign and sail cards or ??? And what is the name of the daily information sheet. (As in Princess it's the Princess Patter?)

Thanks!

Also does Holland America escort you to your stateroom upon initial boarding?

On HAL the cards aren't, to my knowledge called anything but room cards.

If you board earlier than 1 or 1:30 pm, the cabins will not be ready so you will be directed to the Lido for lunch. If you board later, when the rooms are ready, you will be escorted.

As we know our way around we don't worry about it, but our first time on HAL when I didn't know about escorts, I checked the deck plans and found the way to our room from the forward elevator. I felt very prepared.

Even tho we're veteran HAL cruisers, I have to admit that I don't know the name of the daily bulletin, but it has changed 2 or 3 times since we started on HAL.

Have your friends get the brochure and do some homework, after all, it's part of the fun in planning for the cruise.

If pax board before the cabins are ready, there will be a secured room where people can leave the carryon luggage until their cabin is available to them.

It has changed throughout the years we have sailing with HAL, but the daily program is now called :) "Daily Program."
