Want to get off the ship before the cruise is over???

We disembarked a day early on our Baltic Cruise that was return from Copenhagen. We disembarked in Norway instead but we had to get this approved PRIOR to the cruise. A request was sent to a special department at princess and they sent the request to the ship and after the ship had it approved they wrote us back to confirm our request. It's an immigration/customs issue also, so you have to get this approved before hand. Good luck!

A repeal of the 1920 Jones Act is about 80 years overdue. This is the stupid law that mandates foreign flagged ships departing from the US must call on at least one foreign port.
Since today, the PVSA primarily protects US airlines with the effect on cruise ships minor in comparison, don't expect a repeal any time soon. Unless, of course, you want to see government-funded foreign airlines flying routes in the US and competing with independent airlines. The Jones Act has to do with cabotage; repealing it wouldn't affect cruise ships since the PVSA would still be on the books.
