Can my 14 year old DD join me in the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite?

We got a visit from the Upgrade Fairy today, and got upgraded to the Family Suite. We were actually upgraded to the Family Suite on our last Princess cruise as well, so we know that the downside of the Family Suite is the ultra-windy balcony. But we accepted the upgrade for the suite perks, one of which is complimentary use of the Thermal Suite. This time I am wondering if my 14 year old DD can join me once or twice. I am thinking of our using the steam room and the heated stone beds. (She'll probably quickly get bored and ditch me, but it seems like fun to give it a try.) I looked on the Princess website, which says the following:

"Guests must be 18 years or older to indulge in any body treatments and at least 16 years of age to utilize the fitness facilities. Other Spa services are available to guests 13 years and older when accompanied by an adult."

So is the Thermal Suite a body treatment? Or does it fall under "other spa services"?

I would think a 'body treatment' was something carried out by the beautician. If it says over 13s can utilise 'other Spa services' if accompanied by an adult, I should think it would be fine for your DD to use the steam room or hot stone bed as long as you are with her.

As a suite guest you and your husband or any other adult in your suite may use the thermal suite. But it is for adults only.

Hey Furluvcats, I see we were on the QV together! I didn't make it to the CC meet 'n greet. But DH and I had a fabulous time (w/o the kids on that cruise).

Anyway, can you please elaborate about your statement that the Thermal Suite is adults only? I'm not trying to be difficult, but can you tell me how you found this out? Is there a posted sign or policy in the spa? I can't find much info on the website about the Thermal Suite.

You will actually have to check at the Spa's desk when you sign up to use the thermal suites. They will let you know if you DD will be allowed. As with all rules it seems depending on the ship you never know.

The Spa pool is for adults only also.

Thanks for the link, Donna. I did know about the spa pool being adults only, and I'm sure she'd rather hang out at one of the more "happening" pools anyway. We will check at the spa desk about the Thermal Suite. I was thinking of the day when the ship is in Mazatlan (assuming we're still going there). I figure it will be pretty un-busy then, but you never know 'til you get there.

Hello! How did you like the QV??Our M&G was lovely...no thanks to Cunard actually having set anything up for us...lol

When last we sailed The Golden, our teenaged daughter was with us and I remember being dissappointed that she could not use the spa with us. Perhaps with a service that is fine, but we were not able to purchase a Thermal Suite package for her. Hope this helps!!

We enjoyed the QV a lot. We are hoping to do a TA with our DD's in June 2012 on the QM2. As for the Thermal Suite, I think the best thing for me to do is to ask the spa manager when we get there.

If we were doing the 14 day to Hawaii with the girls, I think I would pick the Golden over the QV. When we were in Ensenada on the QV at dusk, I remember standing out on the deck looking at the twinkling lights of the Golden and thinking it looked like such a beautiful ship. We were on the Golden a few years ago, before it was refurbished.

We were on the Golden just before she went into refurb...so it will seem almost new to us this trip!I am a HAL gal and really wanted to do Hawaii with them this time, but hubby thought princess did such an amazing hawaiian trip last time that he insisted we go with them this time...and I am not sure I would have gotten as great of a deal on a HAL Suite as his one, so I am happy!

Yes, ask the spa manager and hopefully they will allow her what you wish.

The QV was a beautiful ship, so luxurious and elegant! The White Star service left a lot to be desired, from what I experienced...

GOOD LUCK! And happy cruising!
