Gem or Jewel??????

I have sailed both. I prefer the Gem. A little more for the adults on the Gem. Better Spinaker lounge with some tavern games such as pool, shuffleboard, even a roulette wheel. The GEM also has the Bliss lounge which has bowling alleys in it and a great dance club at night. Mostly the ships are identicle except for what I mentioned above.

Your 7 yr old will love either ship. Great kids club. She will make friends and want to be there most of the time.

We are sailing the Gem again on April 2nd. Traveling with a 7 and 5 yr old. They and us will have a blast.

Been on both. Both are very nice ships with amazing crew members. But, being Dawn lovers, we prefer the Jewel as the layout is more similar to the Dawn. It was easier to find things. Because of the bowling alley on the Gem, the casino is much smaller, and much more crowded than the Jewel.

With the rock-climbing wall and bowling alley on the Gem, DD will probably find the Gem more to her liking. But, Nickelodeon characters are on the Jewel... so, something to consider there.

Also, both ships have water slides. So, she'll have a blast on either one. Enjoy!

Have not been on the Gem - yet. But the Jewel is a very good ship. I had my reservations before I went because my first NCl was not so good - but the Jewel cured me and the Epic made me a believer. I'm going back on the Jewel in July we liked it so much the first time.

We had the same dilemma - we are in our 40's sailing with our two youngest, ages 8 and 5, out of NY for Easter break next month. They really wanted the Nickelodeon cruise, but the price was much cheaper on the Gem so that's what we chose. The Kids' Crew is the best children's program we've seen so far and the kids never wanted to leave. We've never been on the Jewel, but the Gem had plenty for the adults while the kids were involved in their program.
