NICE & FLORENCE

We are on Regatta 4/25 and are looking for transportation to Nice

and Florence so that we can see the cities on our own for the day.

Does anyone know of a way less expensive than the $79 per person to

Florence and what is best for Nice? Also, is there anyone else who

would like to share that ride with us?

Take the train to Florence - it's about an hour - station in Livorno is less than 5 minutes by cab from where we docked on the R5. You won't be alone. We did that for both Florence and Rome in 2001. Be sure and buy a round trip ticket when you leave from Livorno. Will save you time by not having to stand in line in Florence on the return. They won't automatically sell you a round trip ticket unless you ask. Just checked and it's 5,90 Euro each way. Be sure and validate your ticket on the platform (yellow machines) before boarding the train, otherwise you risk a big fine! I also always make sure I take the train that is one before the last one that would get me back to the ship on time.

Here is a site for schedules:

Florence is a spectacular city! So much history and so well preserved.

Have fun!

I agree, take the train to Florence, that is what we plan to do. We took the train to Rome and it was very easy and full of fellow passengers! We had a wonderful day walking around on our own, coming and going as we pleased. Take the train!
