tkere Posted March 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Carnival settled the belize issue, so they are not skipping this port.
KirkNC Posted March 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Which is better depends on what interest you have. Belize has awesome snorkeling and Costa Maya has access to great Mayan ruins. Kirk
01 Cobra Posted March 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2011 In either location...Belize or Costa Maya, I would highly recommend doing an excursion. The Beach in Costa Maya was very nice when we went, and we took a taxi from outside the port fence...it worked for us and was faster than waiting in a bus taxi inside the port. They don't leave until they fill up. The water is gorgeous and the beer is great, but it's not going to the beach on the mainland of the U.S. Nor should it be... I would recommend reading the threads for Belize and Costa Maya as well.
BeccaBecca1713 Posted March 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2011 They skipped Belize for awhile because they had some heated negotiations with tender boat operators there and each had a different price in mind for how much is charged per head. Apparently it's all settled now. As a side note, we missed Belize and went to Costa Maya onboard Legend back in October but it was because a Hurricane had gone through a week before and the the channel the tender boats go through sustained some damage (I think some dinghy's (sp?) came loose from their moorings).
