Ruins!

Hey guys. Hopping on the Carnival Valor for a cruise to the Western Carribean at the end of the month and I have a question about excursions. I was looking through the excursions that Carnival offers and I booked one but my girl and I want to do a hike involving Myan ruins. There was one decent one listed but it's already sold out. Sad face. I was curious if you guys could recommend a reputable private excursion company?

In Cozumel, the only ruins are a small San Gervasio ruins. You can take a taxi there. Take you about 45 minutes to "hike" around. The big ruins in Tulum require a ferry ride to Playa Del Carmen and then a excursion or taxi or bus to Tulum. It's an all day trip and best advised to use a ship excursion unless you are going to be in Cozumel for more than 10 hours. Check this board for threads on Tulum for information.

 

If you're going to Belize, try to see if the ship excursions to either Altun Ha or Xunantunich are still available. These both envolve bus rides. AltunHa is closer to Belize City. But you can "hike" and climb on the ruins, unlike in Mexico.
