Help for a Procrastinator 3/27 Pearl

riddle

Recommended Posts

Well we have procrastinated until there were no good airfares (actually work situations were unsure so that made travel plans unsure). New fares popped up today that would allow us to go on the 3/27 Pearl as we had hoped.

I am hoping fellow cruise critic members can help me with some advice:

We are flying in and out of West Palm Beach and cruising out of Miami. Our plan is to rent a car and drive from WPB to Miami and stay near the Port. What works best for a rental car agency where we can drop it off near the Port and take a taxi or shuttle to the Port?

We will return to WPB and rent a car and probably stay the night in West Palm Beach as our flight leaves early on Monday morning. Toward that end we would plan to stay near the airport. We would like to pick up the rental car near the Port of Miami and drop it at the WPB airport the next day on our return.

Is this reasonable to do pricewise? We have Hilton points to stay in Miami pre cruise and possibly post cruise so hotels are not a huge problem. I got a good price from Casinos at Sea for the cruise so it is looking like a winner if I can get the West Palm/Miami travel worked out reasonably.

I know there are threads on this but I did a search and could not find any that were specific enough. Thanks to anyone who can help.:)

Downtown hotels near POM will charge you $25-30+/day for parking , so you may be better off looking at hotels near MIA that offer free parking, or drop the car off before you check into a downtown hotel -- both Hertz and Avis have downtown locations.

The Doubletree Biscayne Blvd is very nice (except for the $29/day valet only parking :(), the bar/dining room in the lobby is very good, the pool is nice, and some rooms offer a port view.

Near MIA there is an Embassy Suites and a Homewood Suites & a Hampton Inn in the Blue Lagoon area that are often suggested on these boards. Good luck! :)

Another option you may consider is instead of renting a car take the Tri Rail from WPB to MIA, book a hotel at MIA that will shuttle you to the hotel then taxi to POM on the 27th, then reverse order upon return or rent a car if your staying in the area awhile. Good Luck
