Does the overhang from deck 12 on Marina affect the light/sun in PH cabins on deck 11?

From the pictures I saw, I think they must be very shaded, very similar to the highest deck of cabins on the Celebrity Millennium-class ships.

We were on deck 11 (though not in a Penthouse) and before we sailed, I was also concerned about the natural light issue.

The overhang extends about four feet past the handrail, but because it was so high above (I'm guessing at 15 feet) it did not block much light at all.

 

Our cabin, as well as the 4 penthouses that we were lucky enough to visit, were bright and cheerful. We were even able to sunbathe on our terrace, provided that it was not too late in the day.

 

At times, the sun was quite bright

We found the overhang significant, so don't expect to sunbathe on your balcony. The room was lovely, and you will have lots of sunlight coming in.

We also found the overhang to be significant. Sunbathing is not realistic. Ample light does enter the cabin though.

We were in 11010. Absolutely silent (above us were the Oceania cabins).

The pictures posted by JimandStan are very helpful.

 

It looks like the aft view is very bright and sunny and the overhang is not a problem, but the side view shows the overhang is likely to be an obstruction in photographs in the same way that it is on the Celebrity Millennium, Constellation, Infinity and Summit.

We were very happy with the amount of sunlight that was shed on the portion of our balcony that was on the side of the ship

This window overlooked that side balcony. In fact. you can see the balcony rail AND part of the overhang in the picture. Yet, the sun was often streaming in (as it is here).
