Cribs on Nieuw Amsterdam

I have looked through previous threads but cannot find a definitive answer. Can anyone please tell me what kinds of cribs are used? We are intending taking our children and grandchildren on a Med cruise. My DD is concerned that a crib might take up too much space in a VE cabin.

The crib should match what we had on the Nordam as well as on the Statendam - a small-ish play-yard, with bedding matching what goes onto your bed - so a sheet that is folded to fit the bottom and then a blanket as well.

We were in an oceanview (so about an E or an F), not a VE, and when we had the room steward remove the coffee table, we found that we had enough room, although the sofa becomes essentially unusable as a sofa - it becomes extra storage - which with a baby/toddler is important!

We had our daughter in a bed on the last two cruises (she was 4.5 at the time).

On the Amsterdam, the sofa was a 'full' sofa, and it was designed to have the back flop down to make a single bed. To make enough room, we had the coffee table removed, and then it was fine - we had plenty of room. The room steward made up the bed each night and put it away for the day. No issues there.

On the Oosterdam, we only had a 3/4 sofa, and it was of a more 'traditional' design - where the bed comes out from below and is made up into a big twin/small double. The issue with this bed was that when fully extended, there was less than one foot of clearance between the end of the bed and the desk on the opposite wall. Because of the age and size of our daughter, we asked the room steward to not pull out the bed and to make up a bed using the cushions on the sofa. This gave us the room that we needed to maneuver around the room (again, we also had the coffee table removed).

So - lesson - check how the bed is made up from the sofa and chat with the room steward - they were extremely accommodating in all the cruises we've been on with our DD (four and counting).
