Carnival Legend short review 03/13

Belize - we never went into Belize City. We did the Goff's Caye snorkeling. The island was very pretty. The water was cold and choppy and I chose to just enjoy the island. My DD snorkeled and said it was pretty neat, but some of it looked dead.

The Island aka Gilligan's Island:

Did this Carnival excursion seem over crowded? Was there any SHADE on the little island......food? Vendors??

Also, how long did it take you to get from the ship to the island? Where do they pick you up?

I didn't feel like the excursion was over crowded. We were picked up from the ship and taken by boat to the island. There were two boats, a smaller boat and a catamaran. We were in the smaller boat. It didn't take long, but I didn't time it, probably about 15 minutes. What you see is what you get, not really a lot of shade, it is a very small island. There is a restroom, my daughter used and said YUCK, a lady that was with us said it was "okay". When we arrived there was NOBODY there. About 5 minutes later a couple of boats showed up and there was a man that put out beautifully carved wooden bowls and a lady selling jewelry. There was also a few others that opened a "mini bar" and were grilling food - lobster included. I didn't check out the food or bar stuff so I can't give you any details on it. I saw several with food and it looked good.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for that information. I am concerned about the water ride going over because I can get really seasick on small boats. Was the water calm? The ride smooth?

Well.....I was on the smaller boat and we went pretty fast. I would not call it a calm ride. There was a second, larger boat that was more like a catamaran. We had a young boy (maybe 4 -5) that was hysterical on the way to the island. That family was encouraged to go back on the catamaran because it was a smoother ride. I have no idea how that ride was.

I don't think I can give you a good answer to your question. I have never been seasick and can't tell you if our boat ride would cause it. It was bumpy and fast....but the catamaran is supposed to be better. My DD and I were running late for the excursion (actually we were right on time but didn't factor in the line to check in). Maybe the earlier people got on the catamaran.

Thanks so much for a great review! We are planning a honeymoon cruise for July on the Legend, and I love to see the pics and read someone's more objective review. Roatan looks beautiful! I can't wait to go there, as I have been to most of the other ports. Anyways, thanks again!

Hi kml200

We met you at the roll call get together. We also went to Nachi Cocum and had a great time, but don't remember seeing you there. Isn't it funny how small it was that we didn't run into each other? Had a great time too, but agree wiyh you about the dining room issues.

That is funny!!! I think it was all that laying on the beach just relaxing!!! My DD and I were the ones that rented the floats and floated in the water a bit, it was wonderful (after you got over the chill of the water). We had a great time. This was my favorite port day, but my whole intent of the cruise was to relax. My daughter's favorite was Roatan which was a VERY close second for me. I just loved Nachi Cocom and would recommend it to anyone!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Very informative, and I enjoyed it so much! We'll be on the Legend in October. I'm sure we will have a great time. We are going to go to the Golden Fleece. That cheesecake is as big as your daughter! I can hardly wait! Thanks again!

LOL.....that is what she said when they put it down. She said "that is as big as my head"......We had a great time at the Golden Fleece and it will definitely be part of my budgeting in the future.

KML2000,

Sorry, I didn't mean to assume your dinner experience was bad, just making a comment on what seems to be negative experiences in the MDR from other's not just your small experience.

WOW - that cheesecake looks awsome.

We are booked for Nachi Cocum and can't wait, your pictures are a welcome sight and makes us even that more excited to experience it.

No problem, I didn't really mean to sound so "snappy" maybe. I just don't want to sound like our "out of the ordinary - for us" MDR experience ruined our cruise, because it didn't. By the last night, I did get a little irritated, but got over it pretty quickly. Looking at it in the positive light, we tried something we haven't done before - the LIDO for dinner. Even though we didn't care for it (lacking the experience factor), we now know for a fact it isn't for us.

You will love Nachi Cocom. I was so worried that my DD would be bored - she is 17 (to be 18 in April). However, she loved it too (although she ranks it number 2 to Roatan). I don't think I can go back to Cozumel and miss Nachi Cocom.....that is how much I liked it.

Those pictures are awesome! Thank you for sharing them with us.

As for those who are interested in going to Nachi Cocom, when I tried to "reserve" four spots, I was told that there was no more room for that day. On a whim I decided to email the place - within 15 minutes I had a response and booked for four on April 20.

If you experience the same thing, just try emailing them.

Anyone else planning on going on the 20th?
