Transportation from MIA to hotel

New to cruising & new to MIA...We are staying at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami the night before our NCL cruise...which I gather is close to the POM. I've tried to determine if 5 people would be better off in a taxi (mini van) or if we should rent a shuttle?

If all 5 of you and your luggage can fit into a van taxi it should cost less than a shuttle which charges per person. From the airport to the downtown hotels is about $24(plus tip).

Price is probably close to the same but the convenience of going in your own taxi is immeasurable. We travelled with 15 people. They sent 3 vans to our hotel to pick us up. It was a breeze. Enjoy your trip!
