Sports Bar on Crown

Does anyone know where the sports bar is or what it's name is? My husband is about to have a panic attack because we planned a cruise during the final four thinking theres no way our team would make it this year and that we wouldn't be missing much....WRONG! So now I have to track down somewhere to watch the game, other than our room :)

Thank!

Yes, unlike other Grand Class ships, there is no "sports bar", per se, on the Crown (or Ruby or Emerald), but there is a TV in Churchill's Cigar Lounge (off the Casino) and it's always tuned to the most current active sports programming.

Also, there is a good chance something like the Final Four will be broadcast on Movies Under the Stars, though there is no guarantee. This will be posted in the Princess Patter, but you can also ask at the Passenger Services Desk.

Hope you have a great cruise!

Wow, mine too. I would expect they will show it as well on MUTS. We will be onboard as well, and I'm looking forward to watching under the stars. We were onboard last year when we lost in the elite 8 to WVA and I'm hoping for a better outcome.

If for some reason it's not showing on MUTS, I'm sure it will be on your stateroom TV.

What kind of sports do they normally have available? I would expect them to have the final four as that is a huge sporting event. I will be on the crown in May during the Stanley Cup playoffs and I'm wondering if princess would consider hockey a big enough sport to show. I'd be happy even if it was on my stateroom TV.

A lot of it depends on where the ship is sailing, and the sporting event. We have been onboard during NFL playoffs, Thanksgiving day NFL, and March Madness, and have watched them all.

But ultimately it depends on where the ship is sailing and the satellite reception and the way the channels "work together" - i.e. last year elite 8 games on CBS were showing on an ESPN channel in the caribbean.

In general I would think the Stanley Cup playoffs are a big enough event, but it's hard to tell if it will be showing either on MUTS or in your stateroom.

It really all depends... a few years back, they were piping the Rugby World Cup into all the venues. We've also seen the final Wimbledon matches on MUTS. Never hurts to ask though...

We were on another cruise during the Final Four last year and it was great! They had it on MUTS and there were actually people on board with Butler gear on going crazy. The whole pool deck was like a mini arena and was really quite fun, with cheers after every basket late in the game...

Last year on the Sapphire it was in Churchill's and they served some great snacks; tacqutos, chips, pico de galo, qucacamole... Two years ago we were on the NCL Pearl and they have a muts sized screen indoors, which is where they showed the final game.

You won't be alone, my wife and I will be there as well. We had a lot of fun last year on the Crown during the game, cutting up with some W.VA fans, but that one ended badly... Hoping for a better outcome this year.

Thankyou Mike, that also explains the lady's remark about being in their UK gear. I was picturing a couple in pinstripe suits carrying rolled umbrellas.

Tony:rolleyes:
