Erica@cruisecritic Posted April 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Just wanted to let you know that I touched based with Cunard and the rumor isn't true. According to the spokesman, "A guest at dinner in one of our restaurants 'thought' they saw something (someone) go overboard but after a thorough investigation and a guest/crew roll-call, everyone is accounted for on board the ship." So good news in the end!
Salacia Posted April 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Erica, thanks for the update. When you have the time, how does a guest/crew roll call work? Is it like a muster drill? Thanks again, -S.
dancer11 Posted April 2, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Last night, as we were given the dinner menus at 7:30, the captain announced that something or someone had gone overboard, we had returned to the location and were searching the waters. Everyone was requested to immediately return to their cabins and remain there with the door open until further notice. We looked out our balcony, and could see the search beam on the water. After all passengers were accounted for, a similar process occurred for staff. . It was a very odd feeling while we waited for news, and it was with much relief that we heard the announcement that everyone was accounted for. It was done so expeditiously that in one hour we were instructed we could leave our cabins. We were allowed back in the dining room by 8:45 and the show began only 15 minutes late. It’s’ never dull onboard.

Sounds like a very exciting voyage. Best, -s.

Salacia Posted April 2, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2011 QM2 Guest Capacity: 2,620 Crew: 1,253 source: http://www.cunard.com/Ships/Queen-Mary-2/About-Queen-Mary-2/ Amazing that 3,873 passengers and crew were all accounted for within an hour. Kudos to the Captain and the staff! P.S Thanks to the passengers who post from the ship. I have found that passengers are very careful about what they post. southwestie Posted April 5, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2011 We had this happen last october, we were asked to look out at sea in case we could see anything out there, it was just a bouy thankfully, however at no point were we asked to return to our cabins for a roll call. pb82 Posted April 6, 2011 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2011 Less funny when it happens for real. See the "2004 QM2" sub-album of pb82's homepage, for example.
