Slot Pull Organizers??????

Ships R Great

Recommended Posts

our group had a slot pull in january. we all put in $21.00 a piece but i think that is up to the group. We played "Wheel of Fortune" slot and bet the maximum each time. Jane set things up with the casino staff ahead. We had about 15 or 16 in the group. Each one of us stepped up and got 7 turns. It was a blast. We ended up getting back $19 of our $21. We had some big winners and some who did nothing. The casino gave us a few prizes like t-shirts, dice keychains, a few free drinks in the casino, etc. Jane did bring a calculator to divide the winnings. We had a very active cruise critic group on our cruise so everyone was cheering the current player on.

Jane organized the slot pull and i organized the cabin crawl. We had the slot pull around 10:30 on a sea day and then had lunch together and then did the cabin crawl. Jane periodically reminded people on the roll call who was on the list and asked is anyone else was interested. We picked the day on the roll call and set the final time at our cruise critic party. It did not take much time and was well worth the fun.

you can pick any machine you want and any amount but do talk to the casino people ahead. it made it much easier for us. Have fun.

ships r great: i have done the slot pull a few times. We always chose a dollar slot (like wheel of fortune) People would put in $21 and get 7 pulls.

I believe everyone MUST sign up PRIOR to playing so that IF BIG MONEY is HIT early, more will want in on the piece of the pie.

Some people do back out IF they dont see a money return before their turn.

Also i think there is double jackpot time on a sea day around 10 or 11am I try to arrange it at that time if possible (more bang for the buck if you win) Ask at the casino :D

We've organized a few.

We do let people participate until the first pull is initiated. We've actually picked up some "people off the street" who were not members of our group. The more money we have had, the more we could win. If someone wants to play but can't make it, we were happy to take their money and have someone play for them.

Same by in as the others--$21, 7 pulls on a dollar Wheel of Fortune. We keep track of who won the most money during their turn.

At the end after the money has gone through the machine once, we divide the proceeds (unfortunately less than $21 but entertainment value is "priceless"). The left over odd amount goes to whoever did the best on their turn.

We've never had much cooperation from casino managers and one was downright nasty. No free-bees, wouldn't let us reserve a machine unless we bought in through the casino casher on our S&S card paying 3%. Wouldn't let us get correct change to give back to participants from the cage unless we bought in with our S&S card.

These were all on Royal Caribbean ships, though. As for the nasty one, I wrote a letter to Corporate telling them about the experience and said I was very disappointed as a cruiser that the guy was uncooperative but really irritated that, as a stockholder, the ship was willing to blow off a gambler at 11:00 in the morning with over $1K to blow.

Never got a reply (lol).

If you advise a casino manager in advance and he helps select the machine, don't you think that he might persuade you to a machine that has the lowest odds of paying out, or a machine he suggests will be tightened up a little bit more than usual and lower the odds of paying out??? Just saying.

Look over there! Is that a puff of smoke from the grassy knoll? :D

Seriously, though, meeting up somewhere outside of the casino and then swarming the place might be the best course of action to avoid the appearance of some kind of conspiracy.....;)

You would think this would be the mentality. But in all truth, the advantage to the casino on any slot even set at the casino's "loosest" perameter is so great that the casino manager has no worries about which machine you pick. Furthermore, if you get a large group of outspoken "Cruise Critic" slot pullers into your casino having fun and they happen to win, (a little or a lot) that is a large group of cheerleaders going out and talking up how great the casino is and influencing more passengers to play. A casino's main goal is lots of warm bodies, the house advantage takes care of the rest!

Ships R Great,

What cruise are you going on? Just organize a slot pull like Jim did on our Mercury cruise last year. We all had a great time.

I am going on the Summit in two weeks and am looking forward to it.

Say hi to Ed for me.

Hi Ships :)

I have organized many of them and they usually work out very well (unfortunately, we picked a machine last time that wouldn't take some bills and it wasn't set up right, but we still had fun).

My experience is that it is best to announce it on the roll call, and then also again at the Connections party. I try to keep a list as we go, but that is mainly to get a ballpark figure. People can sign up on the spot when we play.

I prefer to have folks put in $15 and get 20 pulls on the quarter machine (3 plays per pull). Participants get more pulls and there is more excitement than on on the dollar machine).

I simply make a list when people show up to play (no newbies after we start), and check them off when they play. At the end, we check off when we have paid them.

It is easiest for everyone to put in their own money when it is their turn. I empasize that they should bring the right amount with them. Some machines won't take some of the $5s, so they may want to make sure they got the right bill from the cashier.

I also make sure I have plenty of ones and fives to help with the payouts.

As far as picking a machine, I always speak to the casino manager ahead of time. While he may suggest a machine, I try to get one that affords the best viewing for everyone. It is important to make sure there is no conflict with other activities in the casino. I find that the second sea day around 11 works best. When things go smoothly, the whole event from the first play through payout usually takes about an hour.

Anyway, they are easy to organize and a lot of fun.

Happy Sails to You

Have to have a plan of attack. :D

One never knows if a machine can be rigged or not.

It's best to keep your lips sealed and scour out the place, picking a machine you and the group can hundle around than having one picked out by the manager.

I organized the slot pull for the Jan. 15, 2011 Constellation sailing. We notified the casino host, Selma, the evening before and she arranged for the cashier to divide the winnings and also provided T shirts and key chains for the winners.

We met at the casino at 11:00am on our second sea day. Each participant put their sea passes in a bucket and I pulled them at random to decide the order of play. DH recorded names and winnings of each player. Each player put in $10 and got three pulls. The extra dollar went in the pot for the winner. We had 4 winners so I believe each recieved about $4 or $5 more than the divided winnings and the group voted to give the T shirts to DH and me.

We played the wheel of fortune dollar machine and I plunked my butt down in front of it about 10 minutes to 11:00 to reserve it. All in all it was great fun.
