Andersoncd Posted March 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2005 Myself, wife, and 10 year old son are cruising on the Zaandam March 26. I have a few questions, if someone could answer please .... 1. What is the charge for the fitness area? Do they charge by use, or one flat fee for the week? 2. Can you bring soft drinks on board, how much? 3. Is there a pizza bar (for my son!)? 4. Are there activities on the ship for those who don't want to get off while in port? Thanks for all replies.

There is for the spa, but that's by "service" 2) Yes, as much as you want 3) Yes, near the Lido pool 4) Very little organized activity on port days but the library, card room, internet cafe, etc. are all available
grannynurse Posted March 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2005 include the casino, shorex desk, future cruise consultant, and shops. Activities may be scheduled around port times like team trivia, and inter-active games i.e. not so newly-wed game, scatergories etc. I'm not sure about Club HAL (kids) since the new SOE additions in February. You may bring aboard water and soft drinks and wine. And Yes, there is home made pizza. The varieties were more limited than on the Rotterdam, but it was available from about noon to 4:30pm on the outside Lido deck near the burger bar. Zaandam had 3, sometimes four kinds of pizza being made fresh throughout the afternoon. There is also outside salad, and hot dog, chilli and taco options near the midships pool (Lido deck 8). arzz Posted March 12, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2005 I, personally, love the ships most when we are in port -- have been known to not step off the ship at all in 7 days..... When in port the pools are still open and no problem getting deck chairs The fitness area is much more empty and spa appointments can usually be had for a small discount Lots of quiet places to read in the lounges For a 10 year old I do not know what will be offerred in the new Club HAL -- but sharing of family time at a quiet pool is always fun -- and the TV movies run all day anyway
localady Posted March 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2005 Your 10 yo will love the enhancements to Club Hal and there is pizza available from 11:00am ish until at least 6pm. The pizza is made fresh onboard and very tasty. In addition, there is ice cream avialable in the afternoon in the Lido at no charge! Sometimes they have the big huge waffle cones.....and the toppings to spoil you!:) We will be getting off the Zaandam right before you board. We promise to leave the ship in fine condition for you!!:D
arzz Posted March 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2005 I often wonder what planet I am on, as I didn't notice until now that we will be on the same ship as you -- you will probably often see me wandering around on port days as the western carib ports are not my favorites Have a great cruise, we certainly intend to!
