LuckiePuris Posted April 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2011 I am wanting to compare a visit to the Cascade Waterfalls at Port Vila - doing the cruise line's tour or doing the tour independently. I have previously done this tour independently as we were in a group and there was a big price difference between doing the tour independently, and booking through the cruise line. Although this time as it just the two of us, there is not a big difference. The approximate cost of doing the tour independently would be $100.00 total for two adults ($60 taxi, $40 admission to Cascade Waterfalls). The approximate cost of doing the tour through RCI would be $116.82 for two adults (showing on RCI website as $58.41 AUD per person). As the difference is approximately $16.00 is it worth doing the cruise line's tour for the convenience? I am interested in hearing from anyone who has done the tour through the cruise line, and in specific in relation to the following: 1. Approximately how many people are on each tour? 2. The tour duration on RCI website is 2.5 hours. How much time is spent at the Cascade Waterfalls? 3. On the way back after the tour, do you have to go back to the ship or can you get off at town for duty free shopping, and make your own way back to the ship? Thank you in advance for your assistance :)
rugbypopsie Posted April 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2011 The cascades are nice but you have already been there...you could save more money by sharing the cab with another couple or why not go over to Erakor Island for the day...for a small entrance fee you get the use of all the equipment, snorkles, canoes, sailboats..and your entrance fee is refunded as whatever you paid to get over there is taken off the cost of the hire so the day really costs no more than the taxi fare there and back. Its quite close to Port Vila so that cab is about $15 and you can arrange for them to pick you up at the end of the day. It is a lovely spot to spend a lazy day. Nice restaurant, massages you can use you entrance refund for any activity or meal etc. Well worth a look.
sandandsea lovers Posted May 1, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Can you book this excursion to this island precruise, or is someone at the port to book with?
