Ordered Funship Dollars.......SUPER EXCITED!!

So we cruise in 16 days and yesterday I ordered FunShip Dollars and asked that they be applied as on board credit and I just checked my booking online and its already showing up!!! Actually kinda relieved since I've read so much on here about it not showing up right away!!

 

We also ordered several Bon Voyage gifts to be delievered to our room.

What is the benefit of buying funship dollars as opposed to just putting it on your card?

Generally, people like to have some of their extras paid for before the trip to reduce sticker shock at the end.

 

I also noticed after our trip on the Sensation, that all of our charges were placed "on hold" with the credit card company for a few days, then they were put through as actual charges, leading to a situation in which double the amount of our Sign and Sail charges was unavailable in our account for a few days until the holds cleared. I've never heard of that happening, so I'm not sure if it's common, but pre-buying gift certificates can avoid it all together.
