bigindy Posted April 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Hi! We're taking our first TA cruise on the Norwegian Epic, May 7-18 Miami to Barcelona. What might we expect for outside temps on board? We love to walk and are wondering how chilly it will be on the jogging deck, and if passengers spend much or any time outdoors after the first day or two from Miami. I know weather is changeable, but we're wondering if the ship's speed and prevailing winds will add up to a cold wind on deck? Thanks in advance! Gonzo70 Posted April 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2011 My guess is it should be fine for walking. You are taking a southernly route (the more southernly the crossing, the warmer on average). Also this crossing is a bit later in the year than most - which also bodes well for warmer weather. I would not be surprised if it were in the 70s during the day time for much of the crossing. Of course the weather on any given week is a bit of a crapshoot, but on average a mid May southernly crossing should have at least a couple days of decent to good weather, if not more. Rare Hlitner Posted April 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2011 We will not guess since we have done May repo cruises 5 of the last 6 years. Bottom line is that the weather is unpredictable. Most of the time you can expect temps to be in the 70s during the day, but there are just too many exceptions. Last year we did a May crossing and it was chilly (generally in low 60s) the entire way across. A few years ago we did an RCI crossing and ran into a huge storm the day after we left Miami and that storm stayed with us all the way to Ireland (seas were never less then 25 feet for 4 days). The other cruises all had great weather with calm seas, warm days, etc. Hank
