Bojangles Posted April 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2011 We are taking the Avalon Creativity from Paris to Normandy in August. I was wondering about advice on what not to miss after we leave Paris. We will be in Conflans,Vernon,Rouen and Les Andelys. Any special sights other than the Normandy Memorial which we will not miss. Special Restaurant etc. Thank you
Rare franski Posted April 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2011 Will you have some extra time in Paris?? We really enjoyed seeing Monet's original canvases of the water lillies --> especially as we had been to his home (in Giverny) to see where they were painted. They are at the Orangerie - in the corner of the Tuillerie Gardens --> close to the Place de la Concorde.
Bojangles Posted April 17, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We plan on spending 6 days in Paris after the cruise. We will be staying in the 6th but that is not to far from the Tullieries Garden in the 1st. I will make a point to go to the Orangerie. garlinn Posted April 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We just got back from that cruise. We loved it. Do not miss Giverney and the Normandy D-Day tours. If you are in Paris on the weekend you might want to check out the flea market.

Second seating Posted April 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2011 If you like Monet go to the Musee Marmottan-Monet in Paris! Second seating
rosijim Posted April 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Don't miss the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. A fellow traveler told us about it and it was one of the highlights of our stay in Paris. More enjoyable than the Louvre. Web site http://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/home.html
Nippy Sweetie Posted April 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Actually its so beautiful sailing along the Seine that the view framed by the cabin window was like a painting. We loved Les Andeleys. We arrived and docked at a medieval day there. Unbelievable sight- knights on horses, wolves (captive!) lovely stalls and everone in sight in medieval costume. We were speechless it was so unexpected. Another unexpected treat was the tastings of lovely local specialities of all sorts organised by the tour director. Dont rush about ticking off lists of "to do" things- sit back and enjoy- its all delightful
