Thanks for any suggestions!:) Check the Port of Call threads for St. Thomas and St. Martin. I believe you will find more options on St. Thomas, specifically catamaran trips to St. John and Turtle Cove. I did the Champagne cat out of Red Hook to Honeymoon and had a great time. Karysa Posted April 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2011 St. Martin- Creole Rock has great snorkeling but other than that the snorkeling has been disappointing. The island and the beaches are wonderful though. St.Thomas- We had a great excursion on the Dancing Catamaran to Bucks Island where we swam with the turtles. For beach snorkeling try Sapphire Beach, or even Coki for children, it was like snorkeling in an aquarium.
Whitnee1 Posted April 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2011 Been to Coki (right before the shooting incident last year) and it was just OK. Been to St. Marteen but never got off the shopping. For my money and enjoyment you can not beat the beach and snorkeling at Trunk Bay St. John when in St. Thomas. If you have enough time in port do not waste your money on a shore excursion. Just reserach the boards and take the ferry from Red Hook and use taxis to and from both docks. Much cheaper and will give you more time there. You need at least 7-8 hours in port to make it worth the trip but you will never regret it. The beach is rated one of the top 10 in the world every year. jcumming Posted April 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2011 Trunk Bay can be pretty murky and choppy if the the wind and seas are blowing a certain direction. That's certainly true for Pinel Island on St Maarten as well...and probably most of the snorkelling places on the planet.
Caribbean Beach Bum Posted April 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2011 While on St Thomas, I would get over to St John by ferry. Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay are good choices and both have full facilities.
