phrankbama Posted April 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2011 Can anyone give me the lowdown on cell phone usage on the Allure? We are sailing on 6/5, Western Caribbean and I am curious if my phone will work and if so what kind of additional charges might there be. Also curious about receiving emails and text messages. Thanks in advance!
michcont Posted April 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2011 AT&T World Traveler feature for $5.99/mo. This gives you discounted calling rates when you are making calls overseas. As for international data, we have tiered data plans depending on how long you will be overseas and how much data you think you will be using. These tiered data plans are as follows: • 20MB for $24.99/mo • 50MB for $59.99/mo • 100MB for $119.99/mo • 200MB for $199.99/mo

coral reef Posted April 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2011 we used our at&t on board. we have an international plan. i think the charges were $2.00 per minute. there is much confusion on board as to the charges to use cell phones. no one can get their stories right. we were told by different guest service reps that the charges were $8.00 per minute when not in port plus your cell phone charge. not true. whatever you cell phone co. tells you is correct but you do need the international plan for the week to keep costs down. ozzyquinn Posted April 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2011 I texted most of the time my plan was only 25 cents a text but if I called it was like 4.00 a minute. I texted my daughter every day and my bill was only $20.

diva girl Posted April 20, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2011 Don't forget to tell your cell phone provider what different islands you will be visiting. Sometimes there is a difference from island to island.:)
