GiGiGi Posted April 24, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2011 We are considering a 2012 trip with a stop at Granada (Motril). I would be interested in the distance between the two and what the best form of transportation would be. Thank you for any information you might have. John Bull Posted April 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2011 Motril's an unusual port-of-call. But as handy as you can get for Granada. By road its about 40 miles / 45 minutes on the A44, a good, fast & quiet autoroute, attractive route under the shadow of the Sierra Nevada - you can see the year-round snow on the peaks. If you're aiming for the Alhambra, it's only a short distance from the A44 & before you reach the city. But you do need to buy timed tickets in advance - without them you can only look round the gardens & the castle. Sorry, don't know if there's a rail route. cruiseluv Posted April 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2011 I had never heard of Motril! Did a little research and found out there is no train between the two , but there is frequent bus service on Alsa, http://www.alsa.es . It looks to be around 1hr 15 min by bus.
