cdndizzylizzy Posted April 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Quick question to the experts who have done this DIY before: If we go from Livorno Centrale to Lucca first, and then return via Pisa with a fairly lengthy stopover (i.e. leave Lucca at 12:42 arriving at Pisa San Rossore at 13:07, and do not board at Pisa Centrale until 15:45 or 16:08 to return to Livorno), do we need 2 tickets per person for the day, or 3? How do you find out on the Trenitalia site how much each leg of the journey will cost? Also, can a recent traveler report on the willingness of taxi drivers to take DIY'ers to the train station. We want to take the 08:10 to Lucca, so shuttles are not an option on the way there.... Thanks!
euro cruiser Posted April 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2011 You can use one ticket, even with the stopover in Pisa, because regional tickets are good for six hours from validation (if you read some Italian you can see this information on the Trenitalia web site here: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=34a55081a06ba110VgnVCM1000003f16f90aRCRD#2). Therefore, you will need one ticket for the trip from Livorno to Lucca, and another for the return. You can get the prices for the trip by putting in a close-in date (use next week to see a timetable with prices). When you do, you'll see that the fare is Euro 3,70 each way.
