Homewood Suites MIA West-what's close?

We're thinking of possibly heading down on a Thursday for a Saturday cruise. Looking at the Homewood Suites, Miami Airport West. We would prefer not to rent a car, although we will have traveling companions joining us on Friday who will be driving. If we arrive on Thursday, are there restaurants/stores close by? We'll be fine with lounging by the pool and not being at work for the most part, just wondering if we'll be able to go out to grab something to eat or should we plan on delivery. TIA.

Or should we go to the Blue Lagoon location instead? Prices are comparable. We're finding that with two couples (at least for the second night), we're better off with a 2 bedroom suite instead of two separate rooms.

Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon is about a 5 minute walk away from a local strip mall - grocery, liquor and drug stores, along with a Starbucks and at least 3 restaurants (Chinese, Italian, and Cuban) plus fast food options.

 

Breakfast there is great, the pool and hot tub are nice and Mon-Thursday evenings they have a manager's reception with some free food, beer and wine!

 

A taxi from there to POM will cost you under $30 including tip and will take about 15+ minutes. Good luck! :)
