Advice on San Juan Hotel

We have a cruise and flight booked for March 2012. I didn't think reserving a hotel for one night so far in advance would be difficult, but it seems that many of the hotels are already fully booked. So I made a reservation at the Intercontinental. I was wondering if this hotel is too far away from the port and Old San Juan. I would like to go out for dinner that night, and not eat at the hotel. Has anyone stayed there and know how much a taxi is?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on other hotels. It is only for one night, but I am a bit picky! Cleanliness is important to me, but it does not have to be oceanfront.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. It is appreciated!
