Can't help with that exact cruise, but we did do a TA a few years ago on the Indy. Going east was wonderful. Great weather and warm. Lots to do on the ship and the ports were great

We have done several eastbound transatlantics including one that ended up in Harwich but went via Le Havre rather than Brest and Cherbourg. The days at sea are the most fun, the enrichment lectures are much more interesting than the usual selling lectures on the 7 day cruises. We have had a handwriting analyst lecturing on board as well as a numerlogy specialist. The travel lectures are non commercial and very interesting.

We enjoyed Punta Delgada in the Azores, we found a cab driver who spoke English and he took us around the Island and we visited several churches and a pineapple plantation. He charged us about $50 for a four hour tour.

Paris could be a tour destination but is still quite a long way from the coast and would be best done from Cherbourg. If you have never been there it could be very exciting to see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Notre Dame as well as the River Seine.

We actually got off the ship in Le Havre and went by train to Paris for a few days before continuing on to England via the Channel Tunnel (Eurostar). This took us right into London rather than the coast.

Be sure to take plenty of books with you (or a Kindle) as the time at sea will provide plenty of reading time. I don't know what ship you will be on but if it is Jewel the library leaves a lot to be desired.

We leave on this cruise next week. Are you thinking of joining us next week? Or are you looking at 2012? If the former, feel free to come to the roll call with any questions. If the later, plenty of fresh opinions will be available in a few weeks.

TAs are great. We've now taken a "traditional" 7-night cruise with lots of ports ans boy did we ever miss the sea days. Eastbound lets North Americans relax for a week and still feel like they are "going somewhere". The end gets a little intense with ports but by then you are ready to get off the ship and see things. That's why our next cruise will be another TA. We're hooked.
