It is 100 shares. You can even use your IRA money to buy it.

 

You just need a statement from your stockbroker showing that you own at least 100 shares. Once you have booked your cruise, you can email or fax the statement to Carnival along with information like your name, ship, cruise date, and booking number.

 

I booked a cruise this last Wednesday. I e-mailed my certificate Wednesday night and the OBC was added to my booking the next afternoon.

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 14 days or longer US $250

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 7 to 13 days+ US $100

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 6 days or less US $50

The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2012 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits should be made at least two weeks prior to cruise departure date. This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations booked on early saver can receive the credit. I just cameoff a cruise booked early saver - with several price reductions - and did receive the credit.

 

The benefit is approved by a vote of Carnival's board. Whenever they appprove it, they approve it for a specific period of time. In the past, they have extended it each time it came up for expiration. This may or may not happen next time, but I would bet that it will.

No it doesn't. I too have sailed using Early Saver, and received the credit. I'm not honestly sure what "reduced rate" means. We've had seniors, 3rd person, past guest, and even resident rates, and all of those received the credit.

I think "reduced rates" are rates not available to the general public- employees, travel agents, etc. The prices the rest of us pay must not count since all of us have gotten the stock OBC.

I look at it as a tax free dividend and uses it to pay for my internet charge.

As others have stated...I received my comfirmation this afternoon. When I got home I checked my documents and both cruises received the OBC. Thanks all for the idea and answering my questions! :)
