pdbcruisers Posted May 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2011 I was reading that some, if not all cabin doors open into the hallway. Is that true?
irishgirl Posted May 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Yes, they are recessed so they don't interfere with anyone walking down the hallway. Judy
mtsnd1900 Posted May 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Makes egress of a room in the event of a fire easier and safer. Many states and municipalities have laws requiring public buildings have outward doors leaving buildings. Not necessarily the cause for the rooms on a cruise ship to have them, but it is an added safety feature they may or may not have intended upon.
