momto2 Posted March 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2005 We are booked for arrival this weekend at Embassy Suites in N.O. Saw the posts here about the $70-80 rates for Hampton Inn Convention Center. This is considerably less than the $144/night we are paying at Embassy. The Hampton website has rooms but they are $159/night. Any ideas as to where I can find a lower rate? TIA
cali-croozer Posted March 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2005 I think it just depends on when you are cruising and if it's a busy weekend. I am the one who got the great rates, originally booked for $99, but then, when my friends were ready to book, rates were suddenly lowered to $71 (AAA rate, including taxes!). I was able to get that rate, but, a few days later, noticed the rates had gone back up to $99. By the way, we are cruising in June, and the rate I got was for a standard room (2 double beds), not a suite. Just keep checking, unless you want to try a site like priceline....
crazycanuk Posted March 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Hello, my T/A booked this hotel for me and we are paying $179.00. How did you guys get such low rates, we are booked for October 2nd? Isabelle
zydecocruiser Posted March 15, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2005 For Oct 2, you might want to consider Holiday Inn Select on Convention Blvd - about $92 before taxes on their website. Don't seem to be any bargain for this weekend, unless you can pick something up on Priceline.
cali-croozer Posted March 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2005 Hello, my T/A booked this hotel for me and we are paying $179.00. How did you guys get such low rates, we are booked for October 2nd? Isabelle Maybe because we are going in the "off" season......even though it's summer, it's off-season in New Orleans because of the heat....??? zydecocruiser Posted March 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2005 As the tshirt says, "It's not the heat, it's the stupidity" :D A lot fewer conventions, which book up the hotels around the convention center/cruise ships, in the summer. Spring and Fall usually have great weather and more conventions. This week also is St Patricks/St Josephs so watch out for a parade. :D
UnVrYaN Posted March 17, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2005 i too saw the hampton at a rate of $159 per night....the embassy is nicer and cheaper in my humble opinion....also seems to be a bit closer as far as walking distance...hope this helps....good luck:)
