adira Posted May 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2011 My dh and I purchased our cruise way back in November. I was looking at future cruises (Even though we haven't even gone on this one, yet! I already need another vacation! Ha! :o) and I saw that the cruise we booked is selling on a travel site for about 1/2 what we paid. I saw this on Expedia and we booked the cruise ourselves through Travelocity. Is there anything I can do now? Any advice from you seasoned pros would be much appreciated. Thanks! adira Posted May 10, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted May 10, 2011 I see that on the Carnival website, it's virtually the same as what we paid. Does that make a difference?
blondietink Posted May 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2011 If you booked using the Early Saver rate, you would be able to get some on board credit for the price difference. However, if you didn't book early saver rates, then I think you are out of luck. You could always try and call Travelocity to see if they will do anything for you. welldone60 Posted May 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2011 I think what you are seeing on Expedia is misleading. Carnival does not let TA's discount cruises. Some TA's offer OBC by giving up some of there commission. I think if you tried to book with Expedia, the price would increase with fees and such up the amount you paid. kittiG6 Posted May 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Do you really have to do early saver to get a credit back?
tango55 Posted May 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2011 A lot depends on when the cruise is - how far away. If you're outside of penalty, might be worthwhile to cancel and rebook. Terry
big_duck Posted May 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Do you really have to do early saver to get a credit back? If you are after final payment day, yes.
mariemorgan Posted May 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Yes.. Early saver is the only rate that offers price protection after final payment.
SadieN Posted May 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2011 The cheaper rate could also be for a lower category cabin than what you are booked into.
