God Friday ?

AC2001

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We'll be in Martinique on March 25th and I would like to know if everything will be closed because it's God Friday ? For example, car rental offices, museums, boutiques, restaurants, etc.... Any specific ceremony we can assist to? If it's a statutory holiday, will Fort-de-France be more quiet, i.e. less hectic traffic to expect on the road?

Thanks for your help.

L :-)

Pomliane,

Thank you for your answer. We'll have to go back later to try the "langouste" and "les accras de morue". For this time, we'll take a ride up north, I guess.

Have good day!

L. :-)

Fortunatly not!! If you take a tour North, ask the taxi driver to show you where to buy "accras". On God Friday the traditional meal is vegetable accras (carrot or every thing else). People don't eat meat on God Friday, neither drink alcool. Ask the taxi diver I'm sure he will be proud that you know our traditions and that he will help you. But, even if you eat accras I hope you'll come back to Martinique to enjoy the island more than one day and discover our culinary treasures.

Have a good cruise
