Changing a cruise booking

Anyone else booked on the Island Escape for the above date?

We booked it. Thomson in Newcastle matched the internet price which was good. We then had a change of heart and wanted to transfer to the Celebration. I thought that Thomson would again match the internet price (plus a £35 pp amendment charge). How wrong was I?

Apparently if you wish to transfer from one booking to another their system does not allow it to offer the internet price deal!!

I wasnt too pleased :-(

Anyone else had a simliar issue?

Did you change or stay with the IE? We booked the Celebration last year in January but didn't upgrade. Later when the cabin upgrades dropped in price we tried to do so but were told that the upgrade price was fixed at the time of booking so we kept what we had. Still, we enjoyed ourselves anyway and had a great holiday staying on in Turkey the next week.:):)

I was on the IE last year in the Canaries and really enjoyed it. Went on the Celebration later but much preferred the layout on the IE, others would disagree but we don't keep still onboard and like to go all over the ship. A lot more dead ends and u-turns on the Celebration. OK, so the main restaurant is a buffet but that doesn't bother us, we like to get in, eat then get out so waiter service isn't something we bother too much about. The restaurant is dressed with tablecloths and tableware unlike the Beachcomber on Deck 10 which is more canteen like. The waiters are smart and bring you drinks but not food and people dress in smart casual. Nice coffee bar at the rear of the ship if you like an espresso or cappucino and a lovely outlook sailing away. We're not that bothered about lying on sunbeds and it's difficult getting one on any ship unless you get up at the crack of dawn. So it's personal choice and it depends what you want to do on your holiday and where you want to visit. The Celebration is sailing out of Marmaris which around 4 hours 20 minutes flight time, a bit more coming back and a good 2 hour coach ride up and over the mountains which I found very jerky and tiresome. That's the one thing that would put me off going back there, although it was good when we arrived. We would do it again if we liked the itinerary though but it's something to bear in mind as opposed to 2 hours 30'ish to go to Palma and a short transfer time. What date are you going?

I don't know if you've cruised before but I would say forget the ship and choose the best itinerary for you, after all you spend most of your time off ship during the day exploring the ports of call. :):)

I'm rambling again, lol.:D

Hi,

Sorry it took so long to respond. Been away to Edinburgh and Bristol!!

thanks for your comments. We have cruised before, Destiny twice (going again in Aug 11) and Dream april gone. We basically just love cruising as we (my wife and son 11) all find something to do we like. Kids club, visiting places, eating, drinking, socialising to an extent, escaping from one another because let's face it, we all like a bit of space, being entertained and looked after 24/7. Roll on August 25th !!

We're off to Fuerteventura tomorrow afternoon for 11 nights, hurray!! can't wait, slaved all week to get the house and garden straight AND I haven't had a drink for 5 whole weeks. So AI here I come, lol. Got the bags checked in this afternoon so we can turn up an hour late tomorrow. Should get to the hotel about 10.30pm if no delays so just time for a drink and some supper.:):)
