Pre-cruise (Wakkii Marriot Resort) Questions

Has anyone stayed here and if so do you know of a good luau to see while there. We will be staying 2 days pre-cruise and aren't sure what to do. Also if you have any good reasutrants in the area that would be great to. We may go see pearl harbor early one day, but we are not sure what to do the rest of the days. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

Oh, I was wondering if it was easy to obtain a cab around most of the islands. We will not be renting a car and were planning on renting a cab in Kaui to some of the water falls. My cousin just came back and said to get a cab and ask them to wait b/c it's only about 5 minutes to see the actaul falls.

Based upon my experience, avoid Paradise Cove:eek:! Here's a link to our review on that luau http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=93997. We did enjoy the PCC luau that we went to on our previous trip very much.

Since this hotel appears to not be on the beach, do guests have access to Waikiki beach. Do they have chairs, umbrellas, etc?

The hotel is directly accross the street from a very nice, calm section of Waikiki Beach. I normally like to stay in a hotel that's right on the sand, but I can't complain about that aspect of this property.

 

Regarding beach chairs and umbrellas, I do not recall seeing any rentals, but could be wrong about that. Hopefully someone else can offer a more definite answer than that.

All beaches in Hawaii are public access - there are no private beaches in Hawaii. There are beach boy concessions on the beach that will rent certain equipment - don't think that there are any umbrellas though. Might have beach chairs.

Restaurants--Twice we ate at Legends--authentic Chinese menu, lovely location in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

 

No umbrellas on the beach, get a towel and sit under a palm tree.

The original Legend is located in the Chinese Cultural Plaza in Chinatown. The location in Waikiki is an off-shoot. I think the menu is the same though I haven't been to the one in Waikiki. Was it in Royal Hawaiian though? I thought it was actually on Kuhio.
