jewelrylady Posted March 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2005 I saw where someone had mentioned bicycles for rent at the pier in Costa Maya. Has anyone done that?
Ronn452 Posted March 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2005 Jewelrylady, My son and I rented bikes and rode them to Majahual on one of our trips. They rent fast, but I must give you a heads up. Unless they have changed, the seats are MOST uncomfortable. The ride gets to be a bit painful. On our last two trips, we walked the path from the pier to the town and it was most pleasant. The view of the sea is awesome! To get to the path, go south (left when the ship is behind you and the shopping area is in front of you). When you get to the shopping area, follow the beach and the path is right at the water's edge. It's about a 30 minute walk. If it is hot, just take a bottle of water. It is a nice walk; beats the taxis and the bikes. If you are too tired to walk back, just take a taxi. Have a great cruise! Captain Ronn
Beach Boy Posted March 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2005 It's no longer possible to walk along the beach. The path has been blocked by a high wall. I've seen many people renting bicycles at the port, but I don't have any idea how comfortable the seats are. Have you considered renting a golf cart? sharks48 Posted September 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2005 From aerial views, it looks like there is also a wider, sandy path from the port buildings up a little from the beach and through some trees. Does anyone know whether that's still an option and/or a good idea to walk to Mahahual?
