Will Wharfies Strike affect the cruise ships?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering this too, and have been reading bits and pieces on the net about it. From what I can see, it is the wharfies at the container terminals that are the issue, not the passenger terminals. I hope it doesn't strengthen and spread for our sakes. I wonder if the passenger terminals are run independantly ie through companies such as P & O. Someone on here will surely be in the know.

Hi Jen, I have found a little more info (my partner she works at a port).

Aparrently as far as cruise ships go the only thing that may be a problem is tying up and untying of the Ships as the Stevedores do this. The loading of provisions is done by a different company as is the tug movements.

Apparentley with P&O the Stevedores do all the tying up and letting go and cargo loading. I hope this helps? Sounds a bit confusing but it's all the info we could get, If anyone has any other info please share..I think it's going to be a case of wait and see ...and maybe checking with your booking agent?
