The best price I found to rent an SUV is with Alamo. I read someone's account of Alamo not following through with a rental agreement. Did anyone else have a similar experience or was this an isolated incident. :confused:

We had a problem with Alamo in Hilo, but they claimed it was due to the Iron Man Triathlon the previous week. They didn't have their cars back from Kona. I suspect as long as you don't have a reservation for mid-October, you won't have a problem.

Several years ago, we had reserved a car from Alamo for Hilo. When we arrived, they did not have a car for us. They sent us to another rental agency, I believe it was National and we rented from them. Alamo paid the difference even though we got a Jeep Wagoneer instead of the compact I had reserved at Alamo. Thought that was very nice of them and we've rented from Alamo ever since.
