New Orleans Hotel Question

Has anyone stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Convention Center in New Orleans, this is the one on Julie Street?

I have a cruise on Oct 23rd and trying to decide to either stay in Slidell and then park the car at the terminal versus staying at a hotel close-by.

This Marriott is offering a good rate that includes free parking.

Does anyone know how much is the taxi from this hotel to the terminal? It appears to be only a few blocks away. Is it possible to walk from the hotel to the terminal? I do see from google earth some type of walkway that goes from the convention center/river walk across the train tracks to near the terminal. Has anyone had any success walking. It would be just me and I travel light with only one medium suitcase with wheels.

I stay there two years ago. Very nice place and it is with in walking distance about 3 blocks. We took a taxi to the port which was like 15 for two of us. but we did self disembarkation and once it was called we were at our car in less than 30 minutes. The parking is covered and very secure.

HI SCOTT123... It's Jim...the velvet teddy bear....We are going in Jan 12, and I have made our reservations at PRYTANIA PARK HOTEL...It is in the Garden District, and the prices seem good....for the 3 of us (all adults) it is only 109.00 plus tax..123.00 plus change. It include free parking for the night, and a Continental breakfast....if you stay 2 night, you Can get free parking for all 7 of the cruise nights. just passing this on....Email me if you want further info at jusmejim@aol.com..... hope this helps...jim:cool:

Jim, thanks for your input. I can't afford to pay two nights in a hotel for free parking. I have still to book but either will consider the Courtyard Marriott or just stay in Slidell and then park at the terminal.

Should be less than $10 for the taxi. I would not walk as it is not as easy as it looks. Sometimes you cannot get through depending on what is closed or open. Walking the railroad tracks and street with no sidewalk is not good. I would not stay in Slidell. Stay at the Marriott and take a cab.
