We will be visiting the Grand Caymans via the Legend in July. The stingray tour was dismissed pretty rapidly so is there anything cool to do around the port itself? It's the last stop on our cruise. Any cool shopping, restaurants, etc? Can you rent scooters or something? Any help is appreciated

Scooters are not a great option, once you see the traffic volume, along with driving on the left, you'll understand.

 

Plenty of restaurants and shopping in town. Some non-Sting Ray activities other than the beach stuff are: grand prix go karts at Cayman Karting; snorkeling at Eden Rock; taxi or bus to the planned mixed use Caymana Bay Centre for shopping, dinning and wandering; check out the glass blowing factory; go on the Atalntis or Nautilus submarines or glass bottom boat.

Rented a car from Avis, drove around a bit, headed to Rum Point, chilled for the day and drove back. Great day! Car was less than $60 including all insurance, then another $10 for gas. Cheap shore excursion for us (4 people).

We also rented a car and went to Rum Point. It's a very nice beach with some water activities. About a 40 minute drive from the airport where we rented the car (shuttle provided from near the tender pier). You could either rent 2 cars or see about a large passenger van. We used Avis. Have used them in the past and been very satisfied.

I think it will be a challenge for such a large group of 10 to stay together and do it safely on scooters but certainly that is a personal decision.

 

A day at the beach might be something to think about.

Rent a topless Jeep or two (to fit everyone) and head out and explore the island. It's a very easy drive all the way around. There are some really cool beaches and views and you can stop at Rum Point for a dip and lunch. It's a beautiful little island. Flat and very easy to navigate (as long as you drive on the left ;)).
