kiwijohn Posted June 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2011 The Wellington City Council are installing free Wifi in the Central Business District and along the waterfront from the cruise terminal to the National Museum TePapa. It will be ready in September this year in time for the Rugby World Cup and the cruise season. Cruisers will be able to have 30 minute sessions at a time and log in as many times as they like. Naturally cafe owners presently offering free and paid wifi are upset, but the council believes it will be popular with tourists. A map showing the extent of the free wifi is shown in this link: http://static2.stuff.co.nz/1306712768/571/5073571.jpg
kiwijohn Posted June 13, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted June 13, 2011 Noticed today when I was passing the cruise terminal that the Council has nearly finished a new walkway from the cruise terminal to the railway station and about time too. They have planted pohutakawa trees (summer crimson flowering) along the walkway. It will be finished for the Rugby World Cup in September when cruise ships are expected. The previous walkway was in a terrible state.
