HAL: Grand Asia/Australian Voyage Best of Beijing Overnight tour

Hi,

We are booked on the Amsterdam this September for the Grand Voyage to Asia-Australia. On this trip is an overnight excursion in Beijing which visits the Ming Soldier excavation, Forbdden City, Great Wall, and other sites. Has anyone taken this tour? How were the overnight accomodations and food, your tour guide, photo ops, etc? Was it worth the money? The latest price tag for this one is about $800.

I've not done your particular tour but did a land trip in China last year and absolutely loved it. Bejing is a vibrant and fascinating city. Our accommodation throughout our 21 day tour was excellent. We stayed at the Grand Gongda Jianguo in Bejing (4*) and it was exceptional. We ate the local food and found it remarkably similar to the food at our local Chinese restaurant. More western style food was available in the hotel. Our tour guides were all first class and spoke very good English. The sites in Bejing are amazing and IMHO it would be well worth doing the trip. My particular favourite places were the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven.

I have not done this specific tour but have visited all of these locations and highly recommend seeing them all.
