Joal Posted June 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2011 My wife and I are considering a 21 day cruise from Los Angeles to Papeete. We have never been on Oceania. Would like to know if anyone has been on a Cat. D cabin. These are the ones with portholes. They are on deck 3. Any information will be much appreciated. Thanks. travelglobetrotter Posted June 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2011 We love deck 3! Have chosen it 3 times on Oceania because it is a very quiet deck, with the only entry aft. Being low and midships, it's steadier in rough seas. We like to use the stairs and it's handy for all deck 4 and 5 activities. We get a bit of exercise and don't have to wait for an elevator after the show. If we're going to deck 9 or 10 we do use the elevators. We were in cat. D for the 35 day Hong Kong to Athens cruise last year, and found it quite comfortable. We don't mind having only the porthole. For us a quiet location is the best choice. candbgirl Posted June 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2011 I'm so glad to read this thread. I have a Cat D for next summer for the TA Miami-Barcelona. Thanks for the information.
CalSisters Posted June 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2011 We had the Cat D on a TA and really liked it. They came in one day to close the hatch over the window. They were expecting rough seas, but they never came, so they undid it the next day. We enjoyed wathing the waves at night. We would turn the lights off and see the reflections on the waves. Some times they got a little high but it was fun. The little bay there was great for storing our purchases. Have fun.
williegirlcat Posted June 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2011 Hi, We have been in a Cat D. It was center of ship and low down. There was hardly any motion and very quiet. The next morning people from higher decks were talking about the rolling of the ship and we felt nothing. Also, as stated above, deck 3 is very convenient.
