Acapulco Excursions - Need Recommendations

Hi,

 

We leave Monday for the Mexican Riviera on the Star. Our first stop is in Acapulco - any suggestions on what to do? I wouldn't mind lounging at the beach and/or pool of a nice resort but the excursion NCL offers seems short - 4 hours which includes about 1-1/2 in going and coming to the Mayan Palace. Should we take a cab and venture out on our own? Any other resports allow day guests? I'm open to any and all suggestions though - not just lounging at resort. Thanks a million in advance!!!

Do the cab and take a tour on your own. We went out to the Mayan Palace, stopped for lots of photo ops, saw the cliff divers, and stopped at the flea market. (Forget the flea market).
