TrentS Posted May 12, 2005 #26 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I assume you mean the one on SE 17th St... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc I haven't been inside that one, but it looks nice on the outside. It's a no frills hotel, I don't even think there's a pool, but the location is perfect! It's 10-12 minutes from the airport and just outside the entrance to Port Everglades. The area is safe and there are are many many restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

I had considered the Holdiay Inn Express on 17th street a couple of years ago and I made a phone call to enquire about a pool and they said no they did not have one.... gann Posted May 12, 2005 #28 Share Posted May 12, 2005 How far is the river taxi from the Hotel? Can you walk it or will we need a cab? Don
debbue19511972 Posted May 12, 2005 #29 Share Posted May 12, 2005 We walked it bad knee and all. It's probably 1 mile. The water taxi is really great!. They claim its supposed to be used for just that, but everyone on our taxi was there for sightseeing, mostly. The driver points out all the houses and yachts that are owned by famous people. debbue19511972 Posted May 12, 2005 #30 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Also....there is a new Publix behind it with a small shopping center. Publix has great sandwiches. Only restaurant I saw was a Mexican one and an Outback.
TrentS Posted May 12, 2005 #31 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Don, I'm not sure if you're referring to the Amerisuites, or Holiday Inn Express, but both of them are definitely within walking distance. The Holiday Inn Express is actually quite a bit closer to the Water Taxi than the Amerisuites, but it's not all that far from Amerisuites either. Yes, there's a new Publix (grocery store) in a brand new rather large strip mall actually. This is behind the Embassy Suites. There are many many restaurants on SE 17th Street. The Outback Steakhouse and Cafe Del-Rio Tex-Mex restaurants are both right next door to the Amerisuites - just off of SE 17th Street, but there are a large number of other restaurants along SE 17th Street, easily and safely within walking distance to any of the hotels. LornaT Posted May 13, 2005 #32 Share Posted May 13, 2005 There is a pool at the Amerisuites 17th Street, and their "Free" Buffet Breakfast is actually pretty good with make-your-own waffles.
