dasmonkey Posted June 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2011 are the city buses safe and easy to figure out in San Juan. I have read alot of reviews about them and that they are cost effective only $1. I have used them on two different visits there and they worked out great. Cabs were generally a rip off so the bus service was dirt cheap vs cabs. I just asked the desk clerk at my hotel and they told me what stops to take for where I was heading. addicted to crusing Posted July 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2011 are the city buses safe and easy to figure out in San Juan. I have read alot of reviews about them and that they are cost effective only $1. We also used them last year and didn't have a problem except finding out which bus to take. It was very cheap compared to a taxi. It takes a little longer with the stops, but my husband and I rode it from OSJ to the beaches at Isla Verda. It took us a little while to get some help on which bus though. I will say they only accept quarters, not bills, and only exact change. There was a hop or something around the corner who has a change machine. I think though that the bus only cost us 50 or 75cents. A bargin compared to a taxi! Can you tell me if you left from that area, how long it took you to get to Isla Verda and which bus you took? Many thanks.
