Kay129 Posted March 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2005 I'll be on her four weeks from today, and would love some random things to look forward to. It'll be my first cruise. Any tips for this traveler? Thanks:)
boston Rocks Posted March 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2005 I had a fabulous massage in the spa:D…………..make sure to book early! Behind the lido they have the buffet, in the very back there is a pizza/calzone station open all the time; they have 2 doors to the left and right they lead out to small decks that look out over the back of the ship!! Great place to eat; or during the off food hours have some quite time! Our waiter was Booty(yes booty);); I hope he is on your sailing. Great guy and the best server we have had yet!! Also the kitchen tour was fun. Eastern or western? Happy sailing!
Guest Crazeecat5 Posted March 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2005 Hi Kay, Which sailing are you on? My cousins and I are on the April 23 cruise. Just picked up my docs today. I am ready to go.... Sheryl

cruisinonmymind Posted March 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2005 I enjoyed getting up early and eating breakfast on the back of the Lido deck. It was nice and peaceful to watch the water going by. Also, the adult comedy shows were funny, worth staying up for. In the casino, where me and Dh and our 4 friends spent much of our time is okay. Jill Santos was our casino host and she is a lot of fun!! During the slots tournaments, we formed a Conga line right there in the casino and she asked my friend Chris to dance the pole! It was hilarious and we got some good pictures out of it. It amazes me also how the staff remembers peoples names. Of course, my friend Geoff, got really drunk and forgot his room and caused a lot of people to wake up when he tried to kick his door in when the 'key" didn't work. This caused a big uproar. Especially when the occupants opened it and he said, very drunkinly, hey guys this is the right room but we are on the wrong floor! This made for a memorable cruise, the pursers desk, deactivated his S&S card so that he would come down the next day for his lecture on how dangerous it was to consume so much alcohol and that he should be grateful that my DH was there to escort him and his girlfriend back to their rooms. All in all, the Sensation was Sensational. Memorable and sensational. There is a little too much purple, but it is clean and fun, fun, fun. sandsand Posted March 21, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2005 Kay, we're going on April 28th. Do you mind posting some info when you return? I'm especially interested in hearing about the motion/rocking. There's been alot of talk about it the last couple months.
Bunkie103 Posted March 21, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2005 I thought the crew was especially nice, I liked the layout and size of the ship and when you go aft from the Lido Restaurant the outside deck is a really nice place to eat. If you go down the steps from there you find a nice rarely used area by the kiddie pool with lots of lounges and few people. You can sit in the sun or shade. Have a great time! :D
TheGrandparents Posted March 21, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2005 I have to agree..............those two small decks aft are a nice quiet place most of the time. We spent hours back there playing cards, eating pizza and talking. Next best thing to having your own balcony!
Knights on the Beach Posted March 21, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2005 Behind the lido they have the buffet, in the very back there is a pizza/calzone station open all the time; they have 2 doors to the left and right they lead out to small decks that look out over the back of the ship!! Great place to eat; or during the off food hours have some quite time! One of my absolute favorite spots on the Sensation, too. Yes, there is a lot of purple, but it grew on me. We had such a great cruise that by the end of our week on the Sensation, I thought the ship was beautiful. ;)
imlulu Posted March 22, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 22, 2005 I too loved those open areas on the back plus just along the lido. I liked the set up of the bars area..one deck....I liked how you can go to Camp carnival by the outside decks. On the Miracle it was all indoors. My SIL loves purple and loved the decor. ;-)
kywildcat Posted March 22, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Sandsand, We will also be there on the 28th! I am cruising with my 13 sister-in-laws. It should be a blast! Have been on 2 other Carnival Fantasy class ships and absolutely loved them so I know the Sensation's going to be great! Do you know your room # yet? We found ours out last week. I couldn't believe that they kept all 5 cabins together. Our PVP was the best. Hope you have a great cruise!
sandsand Posted March 22, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Hey Kywildcat, We booked assigned cabins because we wanted to be near the center of the ship. I'm prone to the motion. We are on the Riviera deck. My TA said they would keep us together if we booked guarentee - we just didn't want to chance the location. I responded to your post on the Roll Call. See you on the 28th!!!! P.S. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
serene56 Posted March 22, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 22, 2005 my favorite thing on the Sensation has to be the gym spa hot tubs. No matter what time of day I went there it was always empty. and sooooo very quiet. No kids under 16 allowed. The water is very warm... not likt the hot tubs located on the outside decks. n Its not located on the map so people may no tknow its there. I went to the gym/spa area every night an hour before dinner. It was better/cheaper then any massage. As far as the rocking- the ship shudders when it is docking or taking off. Its only slight and it is felt all over the ship.
kguenther Posted March 24, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2005 I loved the people on the ship....all friendly, from the crew to the passengers. You could find party people when you wanted, or laid back more "sophisticated" people when you wanted. We went during Spring Break and barely noticed the kids (except in the pools, that is!). The hot tubs in the gym were nice, the pizza was good, and personally, I liked the decor. Except for maybe the Touch of Class....that place is ugly! But we still hung out there each night with the piano guy singing for us. It was our first cruise, and we will never forget it! The Sensation will always be special to us! kallie05 Posted March 25, 2005 #17 Share Posted March 25, 2005 we are sailing on the sensation for our first cruise 4/4/05... We can't wait 9 days to go...My Dh said today next week will probably be the slowest week ever. My question for any past sensation cruiser is what club or bar do you go to for dancing. It will be my birthday 4/5/05 and I will be 38... I love to dance and I would like to do a little celebrating.
GoinCruisin Posted March 25, 2005 #18 Share Posted March 25, 2005 There is nothing I DON'T love about the Sensation!!!! I kept thinking after being on her twice that I would love the Miracle SO much better... NOPE!!!! The Sensation has a very easy layout, easy to get everywhere... all the nightlife is centrally located, there are some great "quiet, adult" spots on board as mentioned... the staff is wonderful... food was fabulous... everything was as close to perfect as I would have wanted!!!!! And on top of that, our 2nd time on the Sensation was out of NOLA, which just made it THAT much better!!!!!!! The people on the ship were so much fun and everyone was having a great time... never a boring moment!!!!! I hope you love the Sensation as much as I have!!!! For dancing, go to the Kaleidoscope... the disco. It gets "hopping" around midnight or a little later... and they will stay open until it stops hopping!!!!! My favorite thing about the Miracle? It's where I'll marry my best friend on veintitrés de Abril, 2006.

amychell Posted March 25, 2005 #21 Share Posted March 25, 2005 We just got off the Sensation last month and loved the entire trip! Best Thing: Camp Carnival!!!! My kids (5 & 3) LOVED it so much that they never wanted to leave ~ the staff really kept the kids entertained and having a blast (they tell me every week they want to go back to Camp Carnival). :) Worst Thing: Camp Carnival!!!! They kept my kids so entertained that we had TOO much free time together ~ now we have a "cruise baby" due in November! ACK!!! You'll have a fantastic time! :)
leeleent Posted March 25, 2005 #22 Share Posted March 25, 2005 We will be on the April 9th sailing on the Sensation. I will also be celebrating my birthday on the 11th. (BIG 40 OH No) Anyway, I can take it, I'll be on a cruise. We can't hardly wait..... I'm glad to hear alot more good things about the sensation than bad.
