DebBrown Posted July 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2011 I'm not sure if this is a misprint or what BUT..... I am looking at the Fun Times from the Freedom this past January and they have the muster drill listed on Monday, Key West Day instead of Sunday, the day the ship departs. Mind you, having seen Titanic countless times AND knowing the muster drill by heart, I think I could get off the ship if it was sinking but not so sure about first time cruisers??? I just thought it was odd and wondering if that is indeed the case or again, just a misprint.

Normal 1 Posted July 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2011 We sailed the Freedom Western Itin. last year and muster drill was immediately prior to sail away. Likely a misprint.
armymomjarmatt Posted July 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2011 Misprint, we were on Freedom last year. Every cruise I have ever been on has always be around the same time.
hyerpraise Posted July 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2011 Could be the ones that boarded late and missed the initial muster drill and have to 'make-up' their muster drill.
DebBrown Posted July 21, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted July 21, 2011 It has been just before sail away the last few cruises I was on as well. That's why this struck me as odd. OK, I am going to chuck it up to a misprint. Happy Sailing!!
Crazy4Koko Posted July 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2011 I THINK it is a coast guard requirement ( or whoever is in charge) to do a safety drill before leaving port? Much like on an airplane?
HeidiHo Posted July 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 21, 2011 On all the cruises I have been on muster drill was just before sailing with one exception. When we sailed on the Spirit it was Superbowl Sunday and they delayed muster drill till the next day so it wouldn't interfere with the game. There may have been a similar reason for the delay on the cruise that you saw the Fun times for.
SANDYJABS Posted July 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2011 They have a "make-up" muster drill for any pax who may have missed the initial one - being that Key West is the day it sounds like they have a muster drill for anyone who may have missed the ship but gets on in Key West.
