Any Experience with Cozumel's America's Cup Sailing???

Does anyone have any experience with the 12 Meter America's Cup Sailing excursion in Cozumel? Any information would be appreciated. :)

We did it in St Martin some years ago and was a lot of fun.

I did it in St. Martin and had a good time. I was in charge of the main sheet. My elbows hurt for a year. They take a nice picture you can buy. You race against another sailboat.

The Cozumel program is the sister program to the St. Maarten program. 2 of the boats from St. Maarten are now here - "Stars&Stripes 56 & True North IV.

I have done the program and St. Maarten several times and would recommend it to anyone. These are historic sailboats and to have the chance to sail on one of them is a bucket list item.

We had a couple of drinks at hatch (or similar) which is right where these boats are stationed....but with 3 cruise ships in port, they did not move any tours???

How difficult is it physically? I love to be active, but I'm not terribly strong and I have a history of back problems - not looking to reinjure myself on vacation!

They have positions for everyone. If you are a "non active" participant then just let them know and they will have you hold the stop watch or you could be the "cooler queen or king". They even have a position for an "iceberg lookout".

It all depends on what you want to do.

Absolutely! We have done this excursion twice in Cozumel. Lost the race on Stars & Stripes, but came back 3 years later to win on True North IV! There wasn't much wind to work with on our first attempt, but the second time we had the rails in the water. It is a real race - you have a set course to complete, and there is even a penalty if you cross the starting line too soon. These are actual racing boats, so don't expect the amenities of a cruising sailboat (like bathrooms or actual seats).
